After more than a year staying in Auckland, I notice that public libraries overhere play important role in the society. They are not a mere repository of information, but they incorporate technologies in information provision as well as appropriately schedule their activities in order to fit in the changing need of their users.
 If we see many masjid in Malaysia, i.e. a masjid is dedicated to each area, overhere, you can see the same phenomenon that there is a public library in each area. Each reposites not only printed materials, but also audio-visual, CD, games, toys, etc. and premier newspapers as well. Group discussion for non-working women, book/novel review, exhibition, children session, and school holiday activities are some of the activities available. What a fun! not to mention few PC stations for you to surf the internet as well as tourist guide (map & direction) if you plan to spend the weekends going to some beautiful place.
I used to go to the National Library of Malaysia... but never had a chance to visit any public library overthere. Wish to do so...
